# About the Events category

## Instructions for adding an event

We use the [Discourse Event plugin](https://meta.discourse.org/t/discourse-event/149964).

First, use the cog (⚙) icon when creating a new post and select _“Create event”_:

Then fill in the pop-up with your event details:

After that your post will render with a nice little box about the event, plus it will show up in the calendar view:
